History & Background

The Georgia Military Pension Fund (GMPF) Program, House Bill 227, was signed into public law on May 15, 2002. The law enables members who retired after July 1, 2002 to receive a state benefit. According to the certification, members must meet the following criteria to qualify:

A member must complete 10 consecutive years as a member of the Georgia National Guard immediately before discharge. Member must be at least 60 years of age and have completed 20 years or more of creditable service, of which at least 15 were served as a member of the Georgia National Guard. Members must be honorably discharged from the Georgia National Guard.
