Georgia Defined Contribution Plan

Membership

Members of GDCP are temporary, seasonal, and part-time employees of the State of Georgia who are not eligible for membership in the Employees’ Retirement System (ERS) or the Teachers Retirement System (TRS).

Required Members include any temporary, seasonal, or part-time Employees of:

• Departments, bureaus, institutions, boards, or commissions of the State of Georgia
• The State Board of Education
• The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia

Excluded from this plan are the following:

• Employees performing services for an institution in which such employees are duly enrolled as a part-time or full-time student
• Employees qualified as bona fide independent contractors
• Members of any state board or commission
• Active or retired Employees of ERS, LRS, JRS, or TRS

Important: Members of GDCP are only covered for Medicare through their employer. There is no Social Security coverage.

Georgia Defined Contribution Plan: FY 2027 Interest Crediting Rate

During the monthly meeting on April 16, 2026, the Investment Committee of the Employees’ Retirement System (ERS) Board of Trustees considered the Interest Crediting Rate for the Georgia Defined Contribution Plan (GDCP) for FY 2027.

The Investment Committee approved a rate of 2.75% for FY 2027.

• FY2024: 2.00%
• FY2023: 0.50%
• FY2022: 0.00%
• FY2021: 0.00%
• FY2020: 1.20%
• FY2019: 0.60%
• FY2018: 0.60%
• FY2017: 0.50%
