Happy Fourth of July!

The ERSGA offices will close early on Thursday, July 2, to allow our staff to observe the July 4 holiday.

Our offices will close early at 2:30 P.M. on July 2 and remain closed on Friday, July 3.

ERSGA Board of Trustees Honors Frank F. Thach, Jr. for Nearly 17 Years of Service

The Employees’ Retirement System of Georgia (ERSGA) Board of Trustees recently recognized Frank F. Thach, Jr. for his nearly 17 years of dedicated service as a Trustee, culminating with the adoption of a formal resolution honoring his many contributions to the System and the citizens of Georgia.

Mr. Thach served on the ERSGA Board of Trustees from December 17, 2009, through June 30, 2026. During his tenure, he provided thoughtful leadership and steadfast guidance while helping oversee the retirement security of Georgia’s public employees, retirees, and beneficiaries.

New 2026 IRS Contribution Limits
Save More Money for Retirement

New 2026 IRS Limits: January 1, 2026

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) maximum contribution limits to your Peach State Reserves (PSR) 401(k) and 457 plans for 2025 will increase for 2026.

You can contribute the maximum amount to both a PSR 401(k) and 457 account. To increase your contributions, visit: GaBreeze.ga.gov

2026 Limits

  • Under Age 50: $24,500
  • Age 50-59: $32,500
  • Age 60-63: $35,750
  • Over Age 63: $32,500

Peach State Reserves (PSR) Fund Change

Please be advised that the PSR International Stock Index Fund will exclude investments in Hong Kong beginning 12/8/2025. This fund is part of the PSR Lifecycle Fund lineup.

No action is required at this time.

1099-R Address Change Reminder

The deadline for retired members and beneficiaries to submit an address update to ERSGA for the 2025 1099-R mailing is December 22, 2025. 

It is important to keep your address on file current. A 1099-R will not be mailed to you if your address on file is marked as invalid, and the US Postal Service does not forward 1099-Rs.

New GSEPS 401(k) Plan Restoral Provision

The Employees’ Retirement System of Georgia (ERSGA) is pleased to announce a new Peach State Reserves (PSR) 401(k) Restoral Provision recently approved by the ERS Board of Trustees. This important update enhances the benefits available to rehired Georgia State Employees’ Pension and Savings Plan (GSEPS) members, helping them stay on track for retirement after a break in service.

Effective Date: GSEPS members with a rehire date on or after November 1, 2025, will be eligible.

ERS One-Time Payment Post-Retirement Benefit Adjustment
December 2025

ERS one-time payments will be processed on December 5, 2025. Payments should post to payee bank accounts within three business days.

Only active payees (retirees or beneficiaries) at the time the one-time payment is processed will receive this payment.* 

The one-time payment will be equal to 5% of the annual ERS benefit in pay at the time the one-time payment is processed, to a maximum payment of $837.72.

To be eligible for this one-time payment, the retiree or beneficiary must meet the following stipulations:

Retirees: Georgia Income Tax Rate Decreasing to 5.19%

You may see a slight increase in the net amount of your retirement benefit beginning with your July 31, 2025 payment, as Georgia’s flat income tax rate decreases from 5.39% to 5.19% effective July 1, 2025.

This change is part of tax reform under HB 1437. In April 2025, Governor Kemp signed HB 111, accelerating the reduction toward a 4.99% flat tax rate.

State agencies are also welcome to take employees to tour the Governor’s Mansion for groups of 10 or more, advance registration is required. So, make sure you register your event in advance!
