ERS Personal Statements of Retirement Benefits

Employees’ Retirement System of Georgia (ERSGA) mailed annual Personal Statement of Retirement Benefits to ERS members on March 4, 2022.

This integrated statement combines ERS pension benefits and Peach State Reserves (PSR) (if applicable) balances to provide an overview estimate of where you currently stand in achieving your retirement goals.  In addition, if you have a PSR balance, your Social Security estimate will be factored into the summary.

Sending a Document to ERSGA?

Did you know that you can scan documents and upload them through our online secure portal? The documents will be received directly by our office and you can avoid any delays that may be caused by mailing documents. SB 26 Allows ERS Members to Purchase Prior GDCP Service

Effective July 1, 2020, ERS members with at least 5 years of ERS service, who were also GDCP members immediately prior to beginning ERS Membership, may be eligible to transfer or purchase such GDCP service in ERS. This GDCP service will be valued at full actuarial cost to members’ ERS benefit, which can be higher than the contributions to GDCP.

Jim Potvin Elected President of NASRA
August 2019

The National Association of State Retirement Administrators (NASRA) has elected Jim Potvin, Executive Director of the Employees’ Retirement System of Georgia (ERSGA), as the new President for 2019-2020. Mr. Potvin joined ERSGA in February, 2009 as the Deputy Director, after 15 years in private industry working in retirement plan administration and consulting. He was appointed as the Executive Director in February, 2012.

Retirement Online for ERS Plans
Now Available!

Retiring with an ERS pension plan has just gotten easier with the launch of ERSGA’s Retirement Online on ers.ga.gov.

Retirement Online allows most ERS Plan Members (New Plan and GSEPS) who are applying for a Service Retirement to do so easily and conveniently through the ERSGA secure website.

2021 Health and Dental Rates

Beginning this month, 2021 health and dental rates may have an impact on your monthly benefit amount. 

2021 health and dental insurance rates will go into effect December 31, 2020 for your January 2021 coverage. The new health and dental deductions will affect your December 2020 net benefit amount.

Payment summary statements and a breakdown of your net monthly benefit can be viewed or downloaded by signing into your account using the Log In button at the top of the page.

  • Mailing address
  • Email address
  • Phone number

We will be preparing 1099s based on address information available on December 31.  Take a moment to review your address information in order to ensure you receive your 1099.

When you retired, you selected a form of pension payment. If you selected a monthly benefit that continues to your beneficiary after your death, it is important for ERSGA to have your beneficiary’s current information on file.

Credit Report Errors

Are You among the 1 Out of 5 People who have an error?

According to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), 20% of Americans have a mistake on their credit report. According to the FDIC, “incorrect or outdated negative information on a credit report can adversely affect a consumer’s ability to borrow money under the most favorable terms, so it is important to make sure the information is correct.”

Retirees: CIGNA Dental Refund

Retirees with CIGNA Dental HMO were notified of a deduction overpayment of premiums from January 2018 to June 2018. Impacted retirees should receive a refund check in the mail during the month of August 2018. The correct amounts were withheld for July 2018, and will be correct going forward. Refunds will vary depending on plan and will range from $.84 to $2.31 per month.
